America was built on immigration. We are known as The Melting Pot of civilization. Stella Goodman ensures that under her administration, she will keep the pathway to citizenship safe and available.
How will we deal with current illegal immigration?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow just anyone into our country, and illegal immigrants can create a huge problem for us economically and affect the security of legal American citizens. The Obama Administration has chosen to allow an illegal immigrant to follow the pathway to citizenship if he or she has been in the country to 3 or more years without any criminal record. However, the Goodman Administration will repeal the 3-year rule. Any illegal immigrant found in the United States will immediately be deported. However, those immigrants have a second chance to become a citizen by doing it legally, through a screening process, background checks and the usual citizenship test. We in the Goodman Administration highly agree that the United States is the best country in the world, with the best opportunities and the greatest freedoms one can obtain. Therefore, we want to allow anyone, who has good intentions, to add to our communities and economy, and become a citizen of our great country; in the most safe, efficient and legal way possible.
How will we keep immigration safe for current American citizens?
A thorough investigation of each person wanting to become an American citizen must take place. We will check not only their legal documentations, their legitimacy, but we are going to investigate social media and affiliations. We want to ensure the safety of our country, and although immigration is important to our Melting Pot, we must protect our people from possible terrorist attacks and drug trafficking. No person with a criminal record will be allowed to take the path to citizenship. No person with any suspicious behavior of affiliation with drug traffickers or terrorist organizations will be tolerated.
We are aware that the immigration process is long and can create a lot of stress for a citizenship seeker. Although the screening process and investigations will take a long time, we plan to create more jobs by hiring more government investigators for strictly citizenship purpose. The opportunity to increase diversity of race, religion and culture is extremely important to the prosperity of America.
Why not just allow illegal immigrants to stay?
Allowing illegal immigrants to continue to reside in our country opens the idea that we do not enforce our laws. We cannot allude to this because it can be encouraging for more criminal acts to occur. In addition, this affects the safety of our legal citizens. In regard to jobs, illegal immigrants will take job opportunities from immigrants (and Americans) who have legally worked hard to obtain these careers. Overall, allowing an illegal immigrant is simply unfair to the people who waited patiently for their American Dream.
Immigration Facts
1. There were 11.1 million undocumented immigrants in the United States in 2014.
This accounts for 3.5% of the American population. Should we really be allowing this blatant law-breaking in our country? What example does this set for current criminals or for our children?
2. Five percent of the working force are illegal aliens.
Five percent may not seem like a lump-sum of jobs. However, these are people who are not legally allowed in our country and these people are taking millions of jobs from working Americans who want to better our country. In addition, working class citizens are paying taxes for illegal aliens to work. These illegal immigrants do not pay the same amount of taxes an American pays, especially because they typically get paid illegally, or "under-the-table."
3. 66% of illegal immigrants surveyed have been here for at least a decade.
This fact is proof that the Obama Administration Executive Order has not been working. 66% of these immigrants have been here for at least ten years and still have not been found or accounted for. We need more investigations and ways to find out who these unknown people are. Although most illegal immigrants have good intentions, this fact proves the risk we are taking for terrorist and criminal acts.
